The American Criminal Justice Association- Lambda Alpha Epsilon Plays a Role in Peer Trainings

By: Akanksha Thakur

The American Criminal Justice Association- Lambda Alpha Epsilon (ACJA-LAE) students assist faculty advisors with organizing and coordinating university-hosted events on crime scene investigation competitions, and other events that prepare students for conferences and professional careers in CJ. They have also recently started a handgun team. To compete on the handgun team, students must go through a training course and pay for ammunition after joining. They usually train in an outdoor range conservation club. Students use semi-automatic Glocks with 40 caliber and 9 mm bullets.

Some conferences that the students participate in include ACJA Region 6 and ACJA national conferences throughout the region and nation. These conferences offer attendees the opportunity for networking with other student chapters as well as the opportunity to choose to compete in the following competitions: firearms, written exams, physical agility, and crime scene investigation. In addition, ACJA-TAO students and advisors participate in community fundraisers, hosting criminal justice events on campus, assisting Trine University with career fairs and other campus wide events. Students also experience various simulation training in areas of firearms, crime scene investigation, and problem-solving scenarios.

Professor Jackie Delgrange is the chair of the Criminal Justice department and club. Professor Michael Hess is the co-advisor. If any student wants to join, they can contact Professor Jackie Delgrange at delagrangej@trine.edu or Professor Michael Hess at hessm@trine.edu.
