The Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences offers several undergraduate pathways and specialized advising for students looking to pursue an advanced degree in a health profession area.

Some of the health professions listed below require education beyond Trine. Our Director of Pre-Health will prepare and support you in your studies and pursuit of your health profession.

Trine’s health professions pathways can be combined with any major. While you complete your degree requirements, you'll also fulfill prerequisites for your chosen health profession. Although you might choose a major that aligns with these prerequisites, it is not mandatory.

Pre-Health Pathways

Trine University's Physician Assistant (PA) program provides comprehensive medical education to prepare students to diagnose illnesses, develop treatment plans, and provide patient care across a wide range of medical settings.

The pre-physician assistant professional pathway enables students majoring in biologybiochemistrychemistry, and biomedical engineering to prepare for application to the Trine University Master of Science in physician assistant studies (MPAS) program and other physician assistant studies programs across the United States.

Trine also offers a direct entry option that provides seamless entry into the university's MPAS program.

Trine University's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program prepares students with hands-on, evidence-based education to evaluate, diagnose, and treat movement-related conditions, helping patients improve mobility, function, and overall quality of life.

The pre-physical therapy professional pathway is designed for students preparing to apply to the Trine University Doctor of Physical Therapy program (DPT) or another DPT program in the United States. This pathway can be associated with any major.

Trine also offers a direct entry option that provides seamless entry into the university's DPT program.

Trine University's Occupational Therapy (OT) program equips students with the skills and knowledge to help individuals of all ages improve their ability to perform daily activities, promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.

The pre-occupational therapy pathway enables students majoring in exercise science, applied health science, education studies or psychology to prepare for application to the Trine Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program and other occupational therapy programs across the United States. Trine also offers a direct entry option that provides seamless entry into the OTD program.

The Trine Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program provides foundational education and hands-on clinical experience to prepare students for a career as a registered nurse (RN). Graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge to deliver quality patient care and are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.

Prospective students intending to pursue an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) at Trine University who have not taken the three prerequisite general education courses may apply to Trine University, take the required courses, and then apply to the nursing program during the open application cycle.
