Steuben County community members are invited to join Trine University students and
alumni and local businesses for Breaking the Silence Together, the university's inaugural
mental health walk, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
Dedicated to promoting mental health awareness and well-being, the event will provide
opportunities to learn about the importance of mental health, connect with local resources
and support services and engage in meaningful conversations about reducing stigma
and fostering a healthier community.
Participants will check in at the MTI Center, where food trucks will be available.
Speakers for the event will be Ryan Sheets, manager of wellness strategy and Client
Services for Cameron Health; Denise Stump, alumni relations committee chair on Trine
University’s Alumni Association Board of Directors; and Jonah Kyle, a Trine University
student majoring in computer science and information technology.
The event will conclude with a 1.5-mile community mental health walk, featuring do-it-yourself
activities and celebrating the importance of self-care, resilience and making mental
wellness a priority every day.
A virtual option through social media will be available for students and employees
from Trine University’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies. For more information
on the virtual event, contact cgpshelp@trine.edu.
