Trine University’s chapter of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society inducted 29
new members and elected officers at its April 25 meeting.
New member induction was held as part of a virtual national ceremony conducted with
more than 160 chapters via Zoom and Facebook Live.
Maddie Kickbush, a freshman from Valparaiso, Indiana, studying English education,
was elected president of the organization. She is also the philanthropy chair for
Theta Phi Alpha, a member of Delight Women’s Ministries and a volunteer for Junior
Achievement.
Members elected Mackenzie Rosenau, a communication and English major from Jackson,
Michigan, as vice president. Roseneau is part of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, the University
Choir and the Writer’s Block literary publication. She recently was named editor for
the Humanities and Communication Media Team.
Casey Frank from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a biochemistry major, will be secretary
for the organization. Frank is part of the women's hockey team, Athletes Connected
and the Pre-Physician Assistant Club of Trine (PPACT).
Heidi Wilhelm
Heidi Wilhelm, a freshman from Angola, Indiana, studying biology education, was elected
treasurer. Wilhelm is the sophomore senator in Trine Student Government, the Student
Government Representative for the Health Science Association and a member of the Study
Abroad Club and Christian Campus House.
Sydney Bland
Sydney Bland, an exercise science major from Hicksville, Ohio, was elected Student
Government representative.
Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois,
is the nation's oldest and largest honor society for first-year college and university
students in all disciplines. Phi Eta Sigma chapters have been chartered on 378 campuses
across the United States.
Trine University President Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., has announced that Amy Heavin, Ph.D., has been named vice president for student affairs at Trine University as part of the transition to the upcoming presidency of Tony Kline, Ph.D.
Trine University’s Overwatch esports team went undefeated in the Match Point Invitational at Western Michigan University on Saturday, besting the home team as well as teams from Central Michigan University, Ferris State University and the University of Michigan-Flint.
