The BCHP is collaborating with the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (TRAA) and the Fort Wayne Fire Department Emergency Medical Service to provide specialized procedural training — such as intravenous access, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and airway management — overseen by experienced EMS practitioners.
“This collaboration allows us to enhance our skills and deepen our understanding of anatomy as we continue to deliver high-quality care,” said Cody Brooks, assistant chief EMS for the Fort Wayne Fire Department. “The experience with Brooks College has been outstanding, providing us with a wealth of opportunities for growth and development.”
"TRAA is excited to be partnering with Trine University and the use of their state-of-the-art training faculty to receive hands-on medical training for our employees,” said Sandra Lewison, clinical director for Three Rivers Ambulance Authority. “With this partnership, our employees get to learn new skills in person with experienced providers, which improves confidence levels and provides better care for our community."
The Brooks College of Health Professions offers state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories and features, in partnership with the Parkview Mirro Center, an innovative Simulated Patient Care Center (SimCenter) including mock surgery and Emergency Room suites and exam and patient rooms.
“By leveraging the expertise of frontline responders and the state-of-the-art facilities at Trine University’s Brooks College of Health Professions, this education partnership aims to ensure the high quality of pre-hospital care provided to Fort Wayne-area residents,” said Lisa Clemens, DMSc, PA-C, dean of the Brooks College of Health Professions. “Training opportunities not only sharpen technical proficiency, but also build confidence for critical, time-sensitive situations.”
