Each year, select students are invited to participate in our Scholarship Day events to compete for our most distinguished awards:

The Bateman Kolb Scholarship

  • Award: Full tuition annually
  • Description: As Trine's most prestigious scholarship, the Bateman Kolb Scholarship is awarded to one distinguished first-year student each year. In addition to full tuition coverage, the recipient has the unique opportunity to choose a funded internship with Trine University's President or a member of the President’s Cabinet, providing unparalleled leadership and professional experiences.

Undergraduate School Scholarships

  • Award: $26,000 per year
  • Description: Two competitive academic scholarships are awarded within each of our esteemed schools based on Scholarship Day competition results:
    • Allen School of Engineering & Computing
    • Franks School of Education
    • Ketner School of Business
    • Jannen School of Arts & Sciences
    • Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences

What to Expect on Scholarship Day

Scholarship Day is your opportunity to showcase your achievements, skills, and potential. The day's activities are designed to provide a comprehensive evaluation of each candidate and include:

1. Written Essay

  • Preparation: Compose and submit a thoughtful essay prior to your selected Scholarship Day.
  • Purpose: The essay allows you to express your ideas, goals, and experiences, demonstrating your writing skills and intellectual depth.

2. Assessment

  • Preparation: Complete an assessment prior to your Scholarship Day event.
  • Purpose: This assessment helps us understand your academic strengths and readiness for rigorous collegiate studies.

3. Personal Interview

  • During Scholarship Day: Engage in a one-on-one interview with Trine University faculty and staff members.
  • Purpose: The interview provides a platform to discuss your achievements, aspirations, and fit within the Trine community. It's also an excellent opportunity for you to ask questions and learn more about what Trine has to offer.

Additional Activities

  • Campus Tour: Explore our beautiful campus, state-of-the-art facilities, and welcoming environment.
  • Meet & Greet: Connect with current students and faculty to gain insights into the Trine experience.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a complimentary meal as our guest while engaging with members of the university community.
  • Admission Support: Our admissions staff will be available throughout the day to answer any questions and assist you with the enrollment process.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for participation in Scholarship Day and our competitive scholarships, applicants must:

  • Apply and be officially admitted to Trine University prior to the scholarship dates.
  • Receive an official invitation from the Office of Admission  to attend one of the Scholarship Day programs.

Renewal Requirements

Maintaining your scholarship throughout your academic journey at Trine requires:

  • Full-Time Enrollment: You must maintain full-time student status by enrolling in a minimum of 12 credits per semester.
  • Academic Excellence: You must uphold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 to continue receiving your scholarship annually.

Exclusive Housing Incentive for Scholarship Recipients

Recipients of the Bateman Kolb Scholarship and Undergraduate School Scholarships are eligible for priority housing in our prestigious Scholars Hall, located within Widmann Hall.

Scholars Hall Features:

  • Comfortable Living Spaces: Two or three-bedroom apartments with common living areas and semi-private bathrooms.
  • Ideal Study Environment: Quiet and private spaces conducive to academic success, along with communal areas for group study and socializing.
  • Convenient Location: Walking distance to all academic buildings, laboratories, and the library.
  • Modern Amenities: Each apartment is equipped with air conditioning and high-speed internet access.
  • Ample Parking: Convenient parking facilities in close proximity to the residence hall.

Important Notes:

  • Limited Availability: Space in Scholars Hall is limited, and assignments are determined in early spring.
  • Enrollment Fee: Eligible candidates must pay a $300 enrollment fee (which includes a $150 housing deposit)  before May 1.
  • Please note that the deposit is non-refundable after May 1.
