Trine esports repeats as conference champion

Trine University’s esports teams won the Block House Esports League MIAA competition Sunday, April 12, the first time Trine has secured the title in back-to-back semesters.

“It was also a dominant performance by Trine, as we achieved the maximum score of 240 out of 240 points,” said Jeremy Goossens, director of esports at Trine.

Out of the three Trine teams competing in the conference, two — R6 Siege and Overwatch — were undefeated during the regular season and playoffs.

Trine Overwatch members are: Kylee Garrity, a civil engineering major from New Palestine, Indiana; Xander Bowman, a computer science and information technology major from Howe, Indiana; Aiden Keever, an extended reality major from Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Addie Winebrenner, a mechanical engineering major from Huntington, Indiana; Sean Smith, a business administration major from Pleasant Lake, Indiana; and Connor Frappier, an electrical engineering major from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

R6 Siege team members are: Ryan Brown, a computer science and information technology major from Springfield, Ohio; Levin Wann, a criminal justice major from Indianapolis; Landen Young, a mechanical engineering major from Commiskey, Indiana; James Whiting, a business administration major from Lansing, Michigan; and Tristan Smith, a cybersecurity major from Greensburg, Indiana.

Trine Rocket League team members are: Logan Hooley, a civil engineering major from Goshen, Indiana; Ethan Schroeder, a computer science major from Mountain Lake, Minnesota; Trevor Hunter, a computer science and information technology major from Rushville, Indiana; and Carson Sickmiller, a golf management major from La Vergne, Tennessee.

The University of Olivet finished second with 180 points and Albion College was third with 110.
