March 12, 2026
The Trine University Choir will partner with the First Wayne Street Sanctuary Choir in Fort Wayne to perform “Songs to Soothe the Soul,” a celebration of choral music by noted female composers, on Sunday, March 22.
The free concert begins at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne St., Fort Wayne.
Both ensembles are led by Geoffrey North, D.Mus., director of choral studies and adjunct professor at Trine University and music director at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
The concert includes works by American composers Gwyneth Walker and Elaine Hagenberg and Canadian composer Sarah Quartel. Fort Wayne Philharmonic cellist Brian Klickman also will perform.
This is the second concert of the spring for Trine University’s music program.
“Providing our students the opportunity to perform with adult and professional musicians from the Fort Wayne community expands our musical community and the foundation of music education beyond academics as a lifelong pursuit of creativity,” said Brad Jopek, DMA, director of the music program at Trine University. “It also demonstrates our commitment to community outreach as a music program and the exceptional quality of our student musicians and promotes Trine University’s mission of providing formative learning opportunities through collaborative concert programming. I always look forward to attending and supporting this concert, which Dr. North has carefully curated. It is one of my favorite concerts of the year due to its collaborative environment!”
Parking is available at the church, with additional parking available at the Town Center Parking Garage, 828 S. Clinton St.
