This year’s Book Night at Trine University will provide the opportunity to help others while adding to your personal library.
The event, conducted by the university’s PR Planning and Campaign class, will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts.
In addition to offering free books to anyone who attends, the event will accept donations for Turning Point of Steuben County, which provides those facing homelessness or housing instability with the tools to become self-sufficient.
Organizers are asking for book donations from Trine students, employees and the community.
Book drop-off boxes are on Trine’s Angola campus, around the City of Angola and in the Town of Hamilton at the following locations:
Angola: Turning Point of Steuben County, Angola Middle School, Bent Fork, Cahoots Coffee Café, Caleo, Carnegie Public Library, Fairview Missionary Church, Healthies, Novel Nook, Rooted Vegan, Steuben Arts Scene, Sweet Cheeks, Sutton’s, United Church of Christ.
Trine University: LINK library, Forman Hall, Thunder Ice Arena.
Hamilton: Hamilton Community Schools, Lakers Landing Casual Waterfront Dining, Green Bean Coffee and Sweet Shop.
Any new or gently used books of all genres, excluding textbooks, placed into these boxes by Monday, Oct. 12, will be available for the public to take. Any excess books that are donated will be given to local community organizations.
Along with books, Book Night will include the Beached Boys food truck.
Trine University student Claire Schmaltz spent her summer applying her environmental science and biology studies as an ecological crew member with Battelle Energy Alliance at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Fort Wayne Newspapers readers have voted Trine University the Best College in the Greater Fort Wayne region for the sixth straight year.
Trine University promoted faculty and staff members in multiple departments to new roles over the summer.
