Dr. Alan McGee rejoins Trine University Board of Trustees

Dr. Alan McGeeA longtime orthopedic surgeon and current president of orthopedics for Parkview Health has rejoined the Trine University Board of Trustees.

Alan W. McGee, M.D., previously served on the board from 2014 to 2017. The board’s membership voted to affirm him as a member at its May meeting.

“Dr. McGee brings a wealth of healthcare expertise at a time in our history when Trine University is expanding and refining its health sciences and health professions programs,” said Dr. Rick L. James, chair of the Trine University Board of Trustees. “It’s a delight to welcome him back to the board. I look forward to working together with him as we seek to improve healthcare in this region.”

“Dr. McGee complements the incredible lineup of leaders that makes up the Trine University Board of Trustees,” said Tony Kline, Ph.D., Trine University president. “We’re honored that he has returned to provide his experience and insight in leading the university to continued growth and success.”

Dr. McGee assumed his current role at Parkview after retiring in 2023 from Orthopedics Northeast (ONE). He specialized in surgery of the spine at ONE for more than 33 years.

“There is a critical need nationwide for innovative healthcare education, and Trine University has stepped up to become a leader in this area, particularly with the addition of the Brooks College of Health Professions facility,” said Dr. McGee. “I’m excited to work together with my fellow board members to continue to guide the university in creating an environment that produces excellent healthcare practitioners.”

He earned his Bachelor and Science and M.D. from Wright State University, where he received the Alumni of the Year Award in 2001.

He was named the Top Doctor for Orthopaedics in Indiana in 2004, 2005 and 2009.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and the North American Spine Society, as well as the Fort Wayne Medical Society. He is a founding member of the African American Healthcare Alliance of Fort Wayne. He also serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne and Super Shot, Inc.
