July 10, 2024

Trine University golf management junior Chase Stickley, founder of the Thunder Disc Golf Club, is gearing up to host the Cameron Memorial Charity Open, a disc golf tournament to be held Saturday, July 13, at Commons Park in Angola, Indiana.

Supporting a worthy cause

This two-round event will benefit the Cameron Memorial Cancer Care Fund, which supports individuals diagnosed with leukemia and lymphoma. All proceeds raised during the tournament will go directly to the Fund.

Those interested in participating in the Cameron Memorial Charity Open can find registration information, a detailed schedule, and details about what's included with registration at trine.link/cameron-classic

"Whether you're a seasoned disc golfer or just looking for a fun way to support a great cause, we encourage you to join us on July 13th," says Stickley. "Every contribution makes a difference."

A real-world project with impact

Linda Cooper, a Project Management instructor in Trine University's Ketner School of Business, inspired Chase to apply his skills to this real-world project last spring. Chase wasted no time and secured valuable support from Rob Lyons, director of Cameron Medical Group.

"We're incredibly proud of Chase for taking the initiative to organize this impactful event," said Cooper. "His role as Tournament Director showcases the valuable project management and business skills he's honed at Trine University's Ketner School of Business. The tournament is a fantastic way for Chase to combine his passion for disc golf with giving back to the community."
