Summary
The Director of Practical training is responsible for overseeing all practical training for F1 international students at Trine University. The Director of Practical Training oversees all Practical Training Advisors and all processes related to Optional Practical Training (OPT) and Curricular Practical Training (CPT). This individual monitors and updates e-forms, applications, communications, and processes related to practical training opportunities for F1 international students. The Director of Practical Training will conduct routine audits to ensure students with practical training authorization are within Trine University and governmental policy and regulations. Additionally, this position assists students by serving as a Designated School Official (DSO).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversight of Practical Training team.
- Continuously review and update all processes and request forms related to practical training to streamline efficiency.
- Monitor application processing times for all practical training authorization requests to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Serve as the point of contact for all matters related to both CPT and OPT.
- Review and update information that is shared with students related to practical training opportunities.
- Prepare reports for senior leadership and analyze practical training data for accuracy and process improvements.
- Conduct routine audits to ensure accuracy of all practical training student records.
- Review communications with and to students to ensure communication is clear, appropriate, and accurate.
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).
- Assist with SEVIS registration.
- Advise students on immigration status related information as it pertains to practical training.
- Ensure course registration for the CPT course is accurate and up-to-date.
- Provide students with CPT & OPT related documents when requested.
- Oversight of the practical training email inbox to maintain effective response times to students.
- Stay up-to-date on government updates for international students.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Master’s degree required; will consider candidates who will complete a master’s degree within the next two years.
Experience with international student relations required.
