Summary
The position of Assistant/Associate Professor for the Associate of Science in Nursing program requires an individual who can provide excellence in teaching, interested in both their students and their subjects. The Assistant / Associate Professor must be committed to the centrality of a Trine University education. Reporting to the Director of Nursing of the ASN program in the Brooks College of Health Professions, the Assistant/Associate Professor should have a broad understanding of appropriate academic programs and potential future directions; be flexible, visionary, creative, and energetic; and want students to excel and take pleasure in their success. Fair discipline, attention to duty, and desire for self-improvement are expected traits of Trine University Faculty members.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specifically, the Assistant/Associate Professor will be responsible for the following duties:
- Instruction
- Teach a standard load of 18 contact hours per semester
- Provide excellence in teaching with adherence to University policies and protocol
- Post the course syllabus in the learning management system, Moodle, and review with students on the first day of class
- Record class attendance
- Submit absentee and deficiency information to Academic Support Services via MyPortal
- Assist students with academic deficiencies
- Post and maintain a regular schedule of at least ten (10) office hours per week
- Curriculum development and implementation
- Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of instructional material and curricula within the ASN program
- Utilize the official syllabi of record (SoR) for each course taught
- Integrate best practices from Quality Matters into courses taught
- Adhere to the exam guidelines established by the ASN program
- Provide instruction for the class length listed in the official schedule
- Program contribution
- Collaborate with faculty and staff
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of the ASN program and nursing unit
- Participate in faculty committee meetings for the nursing unit
- Support student recruitment, admission, and retention for the ASN program in collaboration with the University enrollment staff
- Participate in advisory board meetings for the nursing unit
- Participate in the development of the nursing unit’s strategic plan
- Assist the ASN Director of Nursing in departmental functions
- Fiscal management of the program
- Provide input for the preparation and management of the annual budget
- Utilize the nursing unit’s resources responsibly to facilitate achievement of the mission, goals, core values, and expected outcomes
- Continuous programmatic review and analysis
- Engage in program evaluation with analysis of data to improve instructional and program quality
- Adherence to University goals, standards, and policies as well as nursing accreditation standards and policies
- Program accreditation processes
- Collaborate with the Executive Director of Nursing and the ASN Director of Nursing in the completion of required accreditation documents for the Indiana State Board of Nursing and national nursing accreditor(s)
- Participate in accreditation documentation and activities as required
- Perform additional duties and assignments as prescribed by the Executive Director of Nursing and the ASN Director of Nursing
Required Education
- A Master of Nursing degree from an accredited university
- An earned doctorate degree in nursing, education, or a relevant discipline from an accredited university is preferred
- An active, unincumbered registered nurse license in the State of Indiana
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the associate level is preferred
- A minimum of three years documented clinical experience as a registered nurse
- Documented scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching, scholarship of integration, and scholarship of discovery)

Rank and salary will be based on qualifications.
