My dedication to teaching includes more than 26 years of higher education experience. I foster innovation in the classroom and engage students through community service, case studies and technology so they will be competitive in the health and science field.

I recently was honored by Trine for the Gerald H. Moore Award for Overall Excellence in Teaching. I have presented at numerous state, national, and international conferences and received external grants to promote physical activity and wellness across the lifespan.

I have developed and delivered new curriculum to meet the changing needs of students. I have supervised numerous service–learning projects, internships and honors research in the health and physical education fields. I take pride in assisting students as they work to achieve their educational and career goals.

Outside the classroom, I try to lead a healthy lifestyle and enjoy hiking, waterskiing, snow skiing, traveling, gardening and reading. I love to ask people if they walked 10,000 steps today. If not, I have them ask me how to get started. It′s no surprise, then, that my favorite quote is, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step," from Lao–Tzu.
