Growing up in rural Iowa, I have always had great ambitions to make an impact on those around me, no matter my location in the world. I completed my Bachelors of Musical Arts from DePauw University, and then decided to take a completely different turn, obtaining my 5-12 English teaching certification from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. After teaching middle school English for 8 years, I decided to move into public school administration with my Masters and PhD in Educational Leadership through Indiana State University. Overall, I have been an educator in K-12 public education for 20 years, serving 12 of those as an elementary principal.
Now in higher education, I translate my passion in working with and developing our future generation of teachers. As the Director of Transition to Teaching, we are innovatively working to build a greater pipeline of educators into our schools, and I also have the opportunity to work with preservice teachers to develop their craft of teaching. I am humbled to be a part of a great team at Trine and in the Franks School of Education, working along side great educators to impact future great educators.
Outside of my work, I am a proud mom of three boys, an avid sports fan, and a travel enthusiast in my spare time.
